International Kolkata Book Fair 2023

International Kolkata Book Fair is the world’s largest attended book fair organised by the Publishers and Booksellers Guild, and highly recognized by the International Publishers Association, Geneva. Its 46th edition is set to be inaugurated on 30th January 2023 by none other than the Chief Minister of West Bengal – Honourable Smt. Mamata Banerjee along with other dignitaries, and will continue till 12th February 2023.

After 45 long years of International Kolkata Book Fair, the book fair received its own identity by the Honourable Chief Minister, who announced the nomenclature ‘Boimela Prangan’ during the inaugural ceremony of the International Kolkata Book Fair 2022. The logo of ‘Boimela Prangan’ has been designed by the noted artist Suvaprasanna.

It is noteworthy to mention that right after the pandemic situation improved, the footfall of the International Kolkata Book Fair 2022 created a benchmark with 2.2 million visitors and witnessed sales of Rs. 23 crores breaking all past records! As a result of this exceptional achievement, the upcoming edition has been attracting a greater number of publishers who intend to participate this year.

The Focal Theme Country of the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair 2023 will be – Spain. Its last appearance in the International Kolkata Book Fair was in 2006, which was also its first. The international complex will also witness the presence of the UK, USA, Japan, Vietnam, France, Thailand, Australia, Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Peru, other Latin American countries and Bangladesh. Publishers from the states of India like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha along with the Little Magazines will also be an integral part of the event.

Another crucial highlight of the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair is that – 9th Kolkata Literature Festival (KLF) will be held from 9th to 11th February 2023, consisting of gripping panel discussions on literature, cinema, drama, music, dance, and much more.
